At a certain stage of life, we lose teeth for a number of reasons, then we have to think about whether to live with defects in the tooth row, hard-to-adjust dentures, damage neighboring teeth, make a bridge structure or turn to dental implants?

After the loss of a tooth or teeth, dental implantation is an ideal solution, because it is possible to restore the defect of the tooth row, the neighboring teeth are not damaged, the patient does not have to use a prosthesis and live with constant discomfort.

After dental implantation, the aesthetics, shape and function of the dental arch will be restored and the person will continue to live without any discomfort.

In today's reality, a visit to the dentist is no longer associated with pain, using the latest equipment, we offer oral treatment to the patient in the shortest possible time.

Dental implants have revolutionized modern dentistry through advanced technology.

Dental implantation is one form of dental treatment, during which artificial roots are implanted in the alveolar cavity of the upper or lower jaw to restore teeth through orthopedic dentistry, placing artificial crowns on artificially created supports.

During dental implantation, the neighboring teeth are not processed to restore the missing teeth. Such constructions exist independently. In the case of complete adentia (i.e. complete toothlessness), it is possible for the patient to undergo prosthetics using dental implants, making both non-removable and conditionally removable constructions. The factor that is important here is that removable structures on implants differ from other types of removable structures in that they are more stable and the patient is more confident when eating and speaking, he is no longer afraid that the removable structure will move and cause problems.

Indications for dental implantation:

partial toothlessness of the tooth row;
Complete toothlessness of the tooth row, dilatation of the alveolar ridge
Problems related to the use of removable prostheses (increased vomiting reflex, allergic reactions to plastic, acquired or congenital defects of the jaws

First of all, it is necessary to visit a doctor and conduct an appropriate consultation, within the framework of which the following are checked, for example: gum biotype, smile line, localization of the defect, dentition, facial symmetry, etc.

Also X-ray diagnostic studies: dental X-ray, radiovisiography, orthopantomogram and the most important cone computer tomography or 3D examination.

Placing the implant in the correct position depends on planning, so planning should start from the orthopedic part.

There are 3 main approaches to implantation:

The first method, when the implant is implanted, then we have to wait 6 months for the upper jaw, and 4 months for the lower jaw, for the integration with the bone. After that, the second step is to install the gum cuff shaper. There is a complete anatomical-biological world around the tooth, and around the implant is only a gingival cuff created by the doctor. On average, after 14 to 45 days (depending on the clinical situation and the biotype of the gum), the orthopedic construction is attached, i.e. artificial crowns are placed on the implants.

The second method is immediate implantation, i.e. implantation of the implant immediately after the extraction of the tooth. It is not always possible to use this method, because there are clinical situations in which it is not worth using this method. This method allows us to save about 6-8 weeks,

The third method is immediate loading, which consists in placing artificial temporary crowns on the newly implanted implant. This method provides some comfort to the patient, because he does not have to walk without teeth. However, it should be noted that the use of this method also has its own requirements.

The material required for dental implants is mainly titanium, although there are implants made of other materials, but titanium is the most popular and justified.

Complications of dental implantation:

The most important complication is disintegration, during which the bone tissue around the implant does not heal. In the future, during operation, the implants have exactly the same diseases as the teeth, if gingivitis can develop with the tooth, mucositis with the implant, peri-implantitis can be a disease similar to periodontitis. Therefore, at least once in 6 months, all implanted patients should visit the doctor for a dispensary examination.

  Post-implantation rehabilitation:

The rehabilitation process is usually quite gentle, a little post-operative pain is possible, which can be relieved by any painkiller, and slight swelling and bruises on the surface of the facial skin are also allowed, but if the implants hurt the patient very much, such an implant should be removed in time and the dental implantation should be repeated in about 6 weeks. .

Care of teeth after implantation

First of all, patients should follow the doctor's advice. It is desirable to place cold pads on the skin surface in the projection area of the implants, so that strong swelling does not develop, this is only on the day of the operation, hygienic wipes are necessary from the second day. It should also be noted that it is not allowed to make changes to the doctor's prescription, it is necessary to visit the periodontist once in 6 months, to perform professional hygiene, and to use oral irrigators at home.

Durability of the implant

The implant is made of titanium and it lasts a long time, but the important thing here is how long the bone around the implant lasts, it depends on many factors.

With appropriate health status, proper hygiene and continuity of dispensary observation, dental implants can serve you for a lifetime.
